Hello My Name Is...

Carol Pinckney

I am Carol Pinckney.  I am a mother, a wife, and a teacher.  I am a resident of Florence, South Carolina where I live with my husband (Marion) and my two dogs (Chance and Maxx). I have a thirty-two year old daughter (Ashekia) who lives in Memphis TN. She is an Ob/Gyn at Memphis Regional Hospital.  I was born in Camden, South Carolina. I lived in Atlanta, Georgia for twelve years before moving to Darlington. I am a graduate of Coker College degree in Elementary Education. a degree in Mathematics from Morris College and my Masters in Educational Technology from Webster University.  My hobbies are reading, crochet, chess, softball, basketball, and drawing.

My teaching experiences include seventeen years at Delmae Elementary (FSD1), two years at JC Lynch Elementary (FSD3)  and third year at Main Street Elementary (FSD3). My teaching experiences include the following positions: a kindergarten assistant, teacher assistant, teacher in special education, second grade, third grade, fourth grade teacher, technology specialist, science and math coach.

Let me share my reason for teaching.  I am committed to providing all children with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to be self-directed lifelong learners and productive human beings.  I believe in the dignity and self-worth of the child, which means that every child is important and will be treated as such. With this belief, I hold the firm conviction that all students can learn and that they have the right to a challenging education, which builds on their individual interests, abilities, and potentials.  I dedicate myself to excellence in meeting the diverse educational needs of the students whom I teach. My mantra is one I borrowed from Marva Collins, “The essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another.”
