My name is Dr. Sharon N. Williams and I’m so excited to introduce myself as the principal of Main Street Elementary School.I’m pleased to be re-joining the MSE family. From my time as a fourth grade teacher here, I have loved the school, the students, the parents, the community, and the district. It is truly an honor to have been selected to join the MSE family. Let me share a bit about myself – I am a native of Florence, South Carolina. I attended Florence School District One public schools (go Wilson Tigers!). I attended Francis Marion University where I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree is Learning Disabilities. In 2013, I achieved my greatest educational goal by obtaining my Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership. I began my career as a teacher at Delmae Heights Elementary, where I taught both third and fifth grade. After leaving the public school system, I worked for Sylvan Learning Center for fifteen years before returning to public education.
I have been married (Leon Williams) for 23 years and we have one daughter and a son-in-law. They have blessed us with two beautiful grandchildren; Braylen Caid and Bella Marie Clark. Oh, and I’m a Delta Girl. Ooo-Oop!
Over the past twenty-two years, I have worked in several capacities in education, but I consider my most important job to be that of a student advocate. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a safe, consistent, and engaging environment where they can grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. I view my role as an educator as one who helps students meet their greatest potential. Over the next few months my goal is to spend time getting to know your children, their personalities, learning styles and interests. Here at MSE, we will celebrate all of our students' successes - small and large. We will encourage them and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.
My vision for MSE is to become an award winning school both academically and artistically. I want our families to know and believe that there is no education, opportunity, or experience that you could receive in another school or district that you couldn’t receive right here at MSE and in Florence School District 3!
Once again, I am thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me, to this wonderful school. I look forward to getting to know you and your children. I look forward to meeting you soon.
