...with over 60 men reading to classes

More than 60 men of all ages and walks of life gathered at Main Street Elementary School Friday for the school’s annual R.E.A.L. Men Read Day.
Jerry State, the school’s interventionist and parent liaison, said R.E.A.L. (Raising Expectations, Achievement and Leadership) Men Read Day was developed as a way to stress the importance of reading and to encourage recreational reading among students.
Fathers of students, businessmen, pastors community leaders and high school students all took time to visit the school and read to classes. The guest readers were treated to breakfast and lunch and were entered into drawings for door prizes.
